DESCRIPTION:
Alcohol, drugs, and tobacco smoke are harmful to the developing
brain of a fetus and a child and those exposed are at higher
risk for long-term health concerns or developmental delays.
The Rosemary Corbin House (RMCH) is an innovative program
that helps pregnant and parenting mothers identified by the
child welfare system at risk of losing their child(ren) due
to substance abuse. RMCH reunites mothers and children in
a healthy setting, providing treatment, counseling, and parenting
education for the mothers and mental health assessment and
treatment for the children.
After completing residential care, the mothers and children
continue to receive ongoing therapy, support for relapse prevention,
parenting, child development services, and emotional and practical
support.
