| Tobacco Education
DESCRIPTION:
The Tobacco Education Strategy is designed to reduce pregnant women, infants, and young children’s exposure to environmental tobacco smoke. Infants and children exposed to second-hand smoke have difficulty breathing and are more likely to get colds or suffer from pneumonia, bronchitis and other lung diseases, or develop asthma and allergies.
Training on smoking cessation counseling and reduction of secondhand smoke exposure is provided to staff working in county-run prenatal clinics, the Labor and Delivery Department at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, and Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) providers.
