Perinatal Substance Abuse Services

DESCRIPTION:

Special Reserve Funds have supported a consultant to work with Contra Costa Health Services’ Alcohol and Other Drugs department to review how the county hospital and health clinics screen, assess, and refer substance abusing women in prenatal and delivery to substance abuse programs. Follow-up activities will be identified and implemented in 2007-2008.

About the Special Reserve Fund:

First 5 Contra Costa established a Special Reserve Fund in 2003 when it set aside $6 million to respond to the impact on First 5 Strategies from state and local budget reductions. Funding is approved for three years only, starting FY 2005-06 and ending FY 2007-08.

RESULTS:
