First 5 Centers
Description
First 5 Centers provide free programs and classes to at-risk families with infants, toddlers and children 3-5 years. Programs promote healthy child-parent relationships, positive parenting practices, early childhood development, school readiness, and social support to reduce family isolation.
All First 5 Center contractors have a volunteer Community Advisory Council comprised of parents, caregivers, community members, and representatives from local agencies to assist them in strategic planning, program results, and outreach
Results
- The First 5 Centers have served over 7,500 families since their inception in 2003.
- Last year, the Centers served nearly 1,875 families by providing 700 classes and activities.

Nearly 80% of parents surveyed stated they made fundamental improvements in how they care for their child because of their participation.
