First 5 Contra Costa evaluates all of our investments.

First 5 Contra Costa evaluates all of our investments, which range from small grants for community celebrations to large, complex programs with multiple agencies receiving funds.

First 5 Contra Costa’s strategic plan presents a series of goals and outcomes for the individuals, organizations, systems of care, and communities in Contra Costa County.  All programs that receive funding from First 5 are connected to these goals and outcomes.

Information is collected through an online reporting system for grantees, grantee reports, interviews, focus groups, site visits and surveys.  Through these data collection methods, we learn more about who is using services, what level of service is provided, and how the service system is improving.  Collected information is used to improve funded programs and to track the long-term impact of our investments on children prenatal to age five, their families, and the service system on which they depend.

First 5 Contra Costa’s evaluation team includes outside evaluators and consultants who collect and analyze data and provide annual evaluation reports.
